My Ideals

A crowd of people smiling and laughing beneath a covered structure. Strings of lights hang from above.

People Before Profit

Inclusion, Diversity, Sustainability

LGBTQIA+

Authentic representation. No rainbow-washing.

Everyone has the right to live how they want free of hate.

I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and an intersectional feminist.

BIPOC

We still have work to do.

The BLM movement is more than a blacked out social media post.

As a white person, I must be aware of my unconscious biases and must use my privilege wisely.

Mental Health

Empathy is our greatest gift.

There is no shame in a diagnosis. There is no shame in struggling.

I have a Level 2 certificate in Mental Health First Aid & Workplace Advocacy.

Environmentalism

Real actions. No green-washing.

I strive to live and work sustainably. There are so many easy things we can all do be more green.

Things I do to work more sustainably: work remotely to reduce fuel usage, avoid unnecessary printing, work with likeminded organisations and buy sustainably.

Working inclusively and sustainably is not a matter of “can” or “should”. It is a matter of “must”.

Public image campaigns that pay lip service to these important social issues but fail to make real changes to their actions are part of the problem. Working inclusively and sustainably is not an opportunity to profit; it is more likely that such choices will lead to sacrifices.

Living and working within our means is essential for our health and wellbeing and for the environment. Profit is not my number one priority; my health and happiness is.
